Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical reasoning abilities in the application problem. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with research subjects totaling 18 students. The mathematical reasoning indicators analyzed in this study are: (1) Presenting mathematical statements verbally, in writing, pictures and graphs; (2) Perform mathematical manipulation; (3) Arrange evidence, provide reasons or evidence for several solutions; (4) Draw conclusions from statements; and (5) Check the validity of arguments. The research instrument was in the form of test questions on reasoning abilities in the application questions as many as 5 items. Based on the test results from 18 subjects, there were 1 student (5.56%) who had mathematical reasoning abilities in a good category, 11 students (61.10%) had mathematical reasoning abilities with sufficient categories, 5 students (27.78%) had reasoning abilities mathematically with less categories, and 1 student (5.56%) has mathematical reasoning abilities with very less categories.
