Analisis Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Peserta Didik Ditinjau dari Tipe Kepribadian Artisan dan Idealist
Abstract
This study aims to describe the mathematical representation ability of students in terms of the artisan personality type and the idealist personality type. This research is a qualitative research with exploratory method. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of personality questionnaires, mathematical representation ability tests, and unstructured interviews. The research instrument used is the Keirsey Temperament Sorter personality questionnaire, a test of mathematical representation ability. The subjects of this study were 2 students of class VIII A MTs Negeri 1 Tasikmalaya City. The data analysis technique used includes the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The ability of mathematical representation in this study was identified through indicators according to Villegas. The results show that Artisan Subjects on the pictorial representation and symbolic representation indicators can make arrow diagrams and can make models by paying attention to mathematical symbols but get the wrong conclusion because they tend to rush in doing everything, on verbal representation indicators can solve problems into form the words of the written text correctly using reasonable reasons. The idealist subject on the pictorial representation indicator can draw an arrow diagram but does not write the name of the relation on the arrow diagram and can use a different method, the symbolic representation indicator can create mathematical models and mathematical symbols even though they pay less attention to what is known in the problem but can get the same conclusion. correct and on verbal representation indicators can solve problems in the form of written text words but with a brief explanation.
