Abstract

Indonesia has plans to make the country developed through the Golden Indonesia program by 2045. This program makes SMK as the main pillar in creating quality and superior Human Resources. In mathematics learning, solving ability is considered the most important. However, this ability is still in the low category. Previous research has shown that self-efficacy influences mathematical problem-solving abilities. The problem is, that there is a contradiction between theory and conditions in the field. The purpose of this study was to understand how high and low self-efficacy students differ in mathematical problem-solving abilities. The method used is quantitative research with an ex post facto approach. The population of this study focused on students majoring in mechanics at SMK Negeri 2 Tasikmalaya with a sample of 50 students. The results of the study had a significant value of 0.60. Therefore, this study shows no difference between students who have high and low self-efficacy in mathematical problem-solving abilities. They are still unable to achieve the step of working on problem-solving skills well
