Pola Simetri dan Hari Baik dalam Kalender Sunda: Kajian Matematika dan Filosofi

Abstract

This article investigates the role of symmetry patterns in the Sundanese calendar and their relationship to the determination of auspicious days from both mathematical and philosophical perspectives. Using a literature review method, the study analyzes the symmetrical structure of the Sundanese calendar and how this structure supports the scheduling of ritual and traditional activities deemed favorable. The findings reveal that the Sundanese calendar integrates mathematical principles through recurring patterns that facilitate the identification of auspicious days. The symmetry in the calendar not only serves a practical function for timekeeping but also reflects a philosophy of cosmic balance and harmony. These findings highlight how the Sundanese calendar combines mathematics and philosophy to create a systematic and meaningful calendrical system within the cultural context of Sunda.
