KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIS DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL HIGHER ORDER THINKING (HOT)

Abstract


This study aims to describe: 1) Mathematical communication skills of students in solving HOT problems. 2) Describe the results of tests of students' abilities in solving HOT questions. The research method used is descriptive quantitative research method. Sources of data in this study were 28 students of class IX D of SMP Negeri 2 Ciawi. Data is collected through tests. The test instrument used is HOT questions in a flat geometry while simultaneously containing indicators of mathematical communication skills. The results of this study: 1). Most students have difficulty communicating questions in the form of images or mathematical models and the difficulty of communicating images to mathematical ideas. The difficulties of students cause students to not be able to solve HOT problems properly. 2). As many as 3.57% of students 'communication skills in solving HOT problems are in high criteria, as much as 7.14% of students' communication skills in solving HOT problems are in medium criteria and 89.29 others are in low criteria.
