PENINGKATAN PEMAHAMAN MATEMATIK PESERTA DIDIK DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE GROUP INVESTIGATION (GI)

Abstract


This study aims to determine the increase in mathematical understanding of students by using the cooperative learning model type Group Investigation (GI) and to determine the activities of students during the learning process. This study uses an experimental method with group design pretest and posttest. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of Tasikmalaya 9 Middle School in the academic year 2011/2012. Samples were taken randomly and selected two classes namely class VII-E as the experimental class and class VII-D as the control class. The instrument used in this study was a matter of pretest and posttest of mathematical understanding abilities of students and observation sheets to see the activities of each meeting. The data analysis technique uses two difference test on average with a significant level of 1% obtained t_count> t _ ((1-α) (db)) then H0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted meaning there is an increase in students' mathematical understanding using the Group Investigation cooperative learning model (GI). Then to find out the activities of students while taking part in the learning by using the observation sheet, it was found that the activities of students during the Group Investigation (GI) cooperative learning from the 1st meeting to the 6th meeting increased rapidly.
