Abstract


This study aims to determine the effect of using problem based learning models on circle material on student’s mathematical problem solving abilities. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a control group design only posttest. the study population was all class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Bantarkalong Kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Sample were taken randomly and two classes were selected, namely class VIII A as the experimental class using the problem based learning model and class VII B as the control class using direct learning model.  The instrument used in this study was a test of student’s mathematical problem solving abilities in the form daily tests andk carried out twice after the learning was carried out. The hypothesis in this study is that there is the effect of using problem based learning models on circle material on student’s mathematical problem solving abilities. Data analysis techniques use the similarity test on average, with a real level of testing α = 1 %. From the result of data analysis there is a positive influence on the use of problem based learning models in circle material on student’s mathematical problem solving abilities.
