Abstract


Childhood at elementary school age is the most effective age for developing various potentials they have. At this time the pattern of growth and development both physical development, social development, emotional development and cognitive development has developed optimally. Potential development must be adjusted to the abilities and characteristics of each child. In general, elementary school age children are the age of children who are still at the stage of learning while playing (learning by doing). In essence students in the learning process experience difficulties or obstacles, the difficulty of learning mathematics is one form of difficulty faced by students in learning. The purpose of this study: to determine the causes of student learning difficulties related to problem solving. The method used in this research is literature review. Conclusion: the difficulty of learning mathematics is a disturbance that children have related to internal and external factors in children that cause brain difficulties in following the learning process normally in terms of receiving, processing, and analyzing information obtained during mathematics learning
