MISKONSEPSI KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIK BERDASARKAN LANGKAH POLYA PADA MATERI ALJABAR

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to describe misconceptions mathematical problem solving ability of students in the seventh grade algebra material. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Subject of the study two learners using purposive sampling technique of class VII-A. Purposive sampling is one of the non-random sampling sampling technique in which researchers determine the sampling by defining specific characteristics to suit the purpose of research that is expected to answer the research problems. Data collection techniques by way of test, interview, and documentation. Mechanical analysis conducted of data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of the study show that the misconceptions found and experienced by students include students who assume that the tribes in each algebraic number are the same and can be added or subtracted, students ignore the brackets “()†in the algebraic multiplication operation.
