Abstract

This study aims to describe pseudo thinking in solving mathematical problems in terms of mathematical resilience. This research is a qualitative research with explorative method. The instruments in this research are problem solving questions and mathematical resilience questionnaire. The subjects of this study were four people from class IXA at Al-Ishlah Tasikmalaya Junior High School, namely one person from the high resilience category, two people from the medium category, and one person from the low category. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the study, it was found that pseudo-thinking in problem solving of subjects with high resilience category (ST) experienced true pseudo-thinking because the final answer obtained was correct, but was unable to justify the answer when reviewing it. Subjects with moderate resilience category (SS-1) experienced pseudo-right thinking because the final answer obtained was correct, but were unable to justify their answers when planning the solution. Furthermore, the subject with moderate resilience category (SS-2) experienced pseudo-right thinking because the final answer obtained was correct, but was unable to justify his answer when doing calculations and reviewing again. Meanwhile, students with low resilience category (SR) experienced pseudo-false thinking because the final results obtained were wrong when doing the calculations but after reflection, the subject was able to correct his mistakes..
