Abstract

This study aims to determine the creative thinking process of students in solving mathematical problems in terms of Adversity Quotient based on Wallas model. The research subjects consisted of 3 XI graders, one person who possessed mathematical abilities of the type of quitters, campers, and climbers. Data collection techniques were carried out using tests and interviews. The results showed that creative thinking process climbers type students understand the problem and the information provided by writing what is known or asked (preparation), requires a short time to think about the solution to the problem at hand considering the questions that have been taught (incubation), students get problem solving ideas (illumination), and students test ideas and re-examine problem solving done before making the right conclusions (verification). Campers' creative thinking process, students start trying to understand the problem but don't understand the instructions or information provided (preparation), students pause to recall the formula used to solve the problem (incubation), students produce ideas based on their understanding of the problem solving problems (illumination), and students test the idea produced but do not check the problem solving process (verification). While the creative thinking process is the type of quitters, students do not understand the problem and the instructions or information provided (preparation), require a long time to think of solutions to problems (incubation), students find it difficult to find ideas for problem solving (illumination), and the rest do not dare to test the idea produced is to examine the answers that have been tested (verification).
