Author Guidelines

JA-CROPS (Journal of Agrotechnology and Crop Science) publishes articles covering agricultural science and technology, agronomy, plant protection, agricultural engineering, agricultural microbiology, plant breeding, food science and technology, weed science, biodiversity, ecology, and biotechnology. Type of manuscripts accepted for submission in this journal are only research article.

Articles must be submitted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and are only being considered by this journal. The authors are fully responsible for ensuring that the article's publication has been approved by all the other co-authors and for the accuracy of the manuscript content. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

Writing Format. The article is written in Bahasa Indonesia in 10 -15 pages including tables, graphics and figures. It must be type written on A4 paper with margin top, bottom, right, left is 3 cm, Cambria 10 font and 1,5 spaced for title, abstrak (Bahasa Indonesia) and abstract (english), 1,5 spaced for content and no footnote in the text. Each new paragraph is written in 1.27 cm or 0.5 in indent. Detailed writing format can be followed at Journal Template (word).

Title and authorship information. The following information should be included: manuscript title, full author names and email addresses, complete institutional name and addresses. Corresponding author should be marked with asterisk symbol.
Abstract. The manuscript should contain an abstract in Bahasa Indonesia and English. The abstract should be self-contained, citation-free, and should not exceed 250 words. Both are written as a single paragraph without indentation.

Introduction. This section states background of the research supported by relevant references and should be succinct and focus with no subheadings. The introduction should end up with the objective of the research.

Materials and methods. The materials and methods section should provide enough detail for others to allow the work to be reproduced. The materials used should include manufacture name and source. The chemicals reagents and equipment or instruments used should include the type or model written in this section. If the method from a previous article is used then it must be cited and if there is a modification on the method then it should be notified and explained clearly. A brief explanation on method for sampling, replication and statistical analysis is required in this section.


Results and discussion. This section may be divided into subsections or may be combined. The discussion of the results should be supported by relevant references. Data with decimal number should use the punctuation “dot” (e.g. 4.5 not 4,5) as a separator. The units used units refer to international system of units (SI).


Table and Figure. Table and figure are numbered consecutively according to their appearance in the text (1, 2, 3, … and more). Table and graphic information should be made clearly to be understood without reading the text. Table title is written upon the table in 1 space meanwhile for figure title is written below the figure. Figure is made in a contrast black and white. The data presented in figures and tables must have Standard Deviation (SD) or Standard Error of Mean (SEM).

Conclusions. This should clearly explain the main conclusions of the article, highlighting its importance and relevance based on the results, discussion, and the objective of the research.

Acknowledgement (if necessary). This section contains the institution name of funding body/sponsors or institution which provides facilities for the research project, or persons who assisted in technical work and manuscript preparation.

Reference. It is not allowed to write reference un-cited in the manuscript. Primary references (journals and proceedings) and actual references (issued in last 10 years) are over 80%. All reference mentioned should be written down alphabetically in reference using the Council of Science Editor's (CSE) style (see Journal Template for detil). The authors are suggested to use application of reference management such as Mendeley.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
